Better late then never huh. It is still Monday and I am just at a point I need to write...so I decided to link up with the Weekend Update for the first time.
It may not seem like anything but I just needed to write...does that make any sense at all???
So I am apologizing my weekend was nothing exciting but I do like the idea of this link up.
I originally had so much to say today but just didn't have the time to write and now that I am actually sitting down I can't remember anything and all my ideas no longer seem so fresh ;)
Instead I am just going to do my weekend review. And before I start can I just ask for some prayers. I have several unspoken request for myself and others...THANKS
Now ignore the fact I am starting my weekend with Thursday since my kids were out of school Friday due to weather {ice}.
Thursday
This was a rewarding yet humbling day for me. I met up with my youth and the other youth director at our local soup kitchen to volunteer for a few hours. We helped prep the meal and serve etc. I think we all had a rewarding time. We did not have a very big crowd but that could of been due to the weather, but never the less we had about 40 or so to serve. It really makes you think and I am so thankful for a warm home and food on our table. It really hit home for me when a small boy and his little sister both about the same age as my boy and girl came in ....all alone! I struggled the rest of the weekend to get that off my mind. I had participated in things like this when I was in youth growing up but this was the first time I was the leader.I was very proud of the kids we had with us and how eager they were to help and they seemed to enjoy themselves too. All in all it was a wonderful experience for us all.
Friday
Like I mentioned before the kids were out of school due to icy weather. :) I was glad because then they were able to stay home with me all day and we could just take it easy. Plus we got to sleep in and that does not get to happen much around here. {and in sleep in I mean 8:30 AM, ha}
Once we got up I made us pancakes and we just laid around watching movies. I love days like Friday. The kids may or may not of stayed in their pajamas all day....I will never tell.
Saturday
Now back to normal. My son had a ball game in the morning (which was on the other end of the county and once we got there the other team forfeited ) and then a birthday party to attend that afternoon. Now the hubby had made some special anniversary plans for us but we were not able to find a sitter so He{we} had to skip out :( My son did get to go stay with a friend and he had a blast. So while we were disappointed sad we didn't get to do anything special I still love my hubby. I think he felt bad too because he is not the one to really surprise me or make plans etc and the time he does it doesn't work. I say it was his thought and effort that counted!
So anyways we stayed home with our daughter and sometime between 2-3 AM a man wrecks his truck in our front yard!! He hits/wrecks pretty hard too. LONG story short he was able to walk away.....LONG story BUT talk about startling!
Sunday
I was so sleepy Sunday. I guess from not sleeping any that night....
But as always we got up and went to church and then spent most of the afternoon at home. We normally eat with the hubby's grandma after church but she wasn't feeling well so we just stayed home. Later that evening we went back to church for our evening activities. It was a pretty good day! Sundays are my favorite day of the week.
I hope you had a nice weekend. Did you do anything special??
Well I am well aware this post has not content but I just had the urge to write. I did however share something more meaningful and personal today over at Lily Among Thorns. I hope you have a chance to read it as well.
Sounds like a great weekend!
