I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas. I did! Or guess I should say we did. Even though the kids were starting to get sick they still had a great time with family and opening gifts obviously :).
We always spend Christmas eve with the hubby's family ...which consist of his grandma, his uncle, and his cousin .....and then us. His grandma fixes us a yummy meal them the kids open their gifts.
On Christmas day the kids wake up really early ....I'm pretty sure it is only moments after I get to sleep. My dad will come over after they open their gifts and then once we visit with him for a while we go to my moms. She has always fixed brunch on Christmas even when I was little. So my family with my 2 sisters and their families spend a couple hours with our mom. The kids get plenty of things and enjoy playing with their cousins.
I don't have any pictures of my kids tearing into their gifts but I did want to share a new tradition we are starting. We have always tried to teach the kids the real meaning OF Christmas by telling the story of Jesus birth and reminding them we are celebrating His day. The kids have enjoyed singing happy birthday in the past. Well this year we had a friend tell us about how her family always got a birthday cake. Kelly really likes that idea to add into what we already do so he bought us a cake...well a big cookie cake and had the store write "happy birthday Jesus" on it. The kids loved it and before we did anything we celebrated a birthday to the most important man in our lives...HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS!
I have a sweet video of the kids singing happy birthday but can't figure how to upload it from my cell :(
I have it loaded on the facebook page now so I hope you will check it out there :)
Blessings

Such a great idea!! I have been looking for ways to teach the true meaning of Christmas to my little boy (he's almost two, so next year will be "the year"). I will keep this idea handy for next year!
